for every lost life/soul/memory to be
honored
how many more
memorials/essays/altars
before we seal the hurt away?
there is not a saigon
there is not a saigon that belongs
to my family
when a city falls,
forced into rubble,
where do all the people go?
easy--
american-made, star-studded motion pictures;
under the radar;
wallet-sized photos;
university history lectures;
graves of water and debris;
lists,
lists,
and
lists of the
martyred;
they move
on and on, never leaving
our blood,
our thoughts
--stuck in the wind
Writers craft narratives.
I bring their visions to life.
