The César E. Chávez and Dolores Huerta Education Awards Program honors the legacies of two civil rights activists.

 

This graphic tells the story of Dolores Huerta, a labor leader who fought for United Farm Workers.

 

It depicts:

  • self-determination through unionization
  • social justice for labor workers
  • civil rights issues

 

Huelga” is the Spanish word for strike. This term memorializes the collaborative effort of agricultural workers, and serves as a promise to defend the working class from exploitation.
